Menstruation is a woman’s monthly bleeding from vagina; it is not a disease, actually it is a situation that every women need to face in her life. However, other severe problems related to Menstruation (Period) are not common and one need to consult a doctor as the problem could even be dangerous for life.
When a woman menstruates, the internal lining of the uterus sheds through vagina in form of blood. The blood is partly blood and partly tissues, from inside the uterus. When period comes regularly, then it is called as Menstruation Cycle. Basically it is a monthly series of changes, which woman’s body experience.
Healthy Symptoms of Menstruation in Women
Regular Period Cycle illustrates adequate working of important body parts. Each month the body gets itself prepared for pregnancy, one of the ovaries releases an egg and at the same time hormonal changes inside the body prepares the Uterus for pregnancy. During this when the egg doesn’t get fertilized, the lining of the uterus starts shedding, and this is called the normal period cycle.

A study in United States found that, the Menstruation starts at the age of 12 but it could vary between 9 to 15 years of age. Long cycles are common for the first few years, at the time of inception, however it gets regular as the age grows.
The cycle is counted from the first day of a period to the first day of another period, it ranges somewhere from 21 to 35 days but ideally it is found to be 28 days long. The period lasts for 2 to 7 days normally and ideally for 5 days. You can track your cycles to know whether they are going normally or not.
Irregularity in the cycle is not so serious but sometimes it signals bad health issues. So do not consider the long irregular cycles casually and consult a good Doctor.
Stay away from the infections of vagina by using good quality pads during periods, despite of cloth. Pad keeps you infection free and makes you feel better during the periods. You also need to change your pad after a normal duration of 6 to 8 hours; normally every woman has her own decided time to change the pad.
Each women has various flows during menstruation, the flow could be light normal or heavy, depending on the women. Continuous heavy flow could be dangerous and can cause other health problems.
Certain types of Contraception like birth control pills, period extending pills can alter your normal period cycle. So try to avoid taking them, if your period is regular already.
In some cases, not having Menstruation for long can mean that your ovaries have stopped producing normal amounts of estrogen and are ready to go in the state of menopause. Normally menopause comes between the ages of 45 to 55, after this, your body discontinues preparing itself for pregnancy.
