Lymphoma is a type of cancer which develops by the group of blood cell tumors (lymphocytes). This type of cancer especially affects our immune cells called as Lymphocytes. It affects the people of all over the world, especially in developed and developing countries. It is considered as the third common type of cancer in children.

Lymphoma is mainly divided in two types: Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) and Non Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL). In 90 percent of cases NHL occurs, in which the blood may become so thick with protein. Its treatment involves chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and surgery.

Main causes of Lymphoma are yet unknown but some risk factors are identified. But still it is unclear that which factor plays an important role in its actual development, various risk factors include:

  • Age

Generally its risk increases with respect to age. Most of the NHL suffering people are in the age of 60 to 64. Whereas HL affects two specific age groups one is people in their 20s and another is people over their 55.

  • Infections

Certain types of infections are responsible for Lymphoma like infection with HIV, infection with hepatitis B and C, infection with the bacteria which lives in digestive tract, infection with EBV, etc.

  • Genetically

If you have a family history of Lymphoma then you are at high risk of capturing the disease. But it is not that necessary that you will definitely cause the disease.

  • Exposure to Chemicals

If you are a farm worker and often come in contact with pesticides, herbicides and other solvents then you may be at higher risk of lymphoma. Greater use of hair dye is also a reason which brings you into the contact of chemicals.

  • Certain Medical Conditions

Certain medical conditions those compromise your immune system like HIV, autoimmune disease, inherited immunodeficiency diseases, etc are also responsible causing Lymphoma.

Common Lymphoma Symptoms Include:

  • Swelling of the Lymph nodes whether pain less or painful.
  • High temperatures or fever which come and go
  • Excessive sweating especially at night
  • Cough and Breathlessness
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Itching, which becomes worse after drinking alcohol
  • Vomiting after drinking alcohol
  • Sudden weight loss without having any explanation
  • Abdominal pain
  • Headache
  • Enlarged Tonsillitis
  • General Fatigue
  • Feeling of tiredness or lack of energy

Some people also experience unusual and tremendous lower back pain; actually it happens due to expansion of lymph nodes. These symptoms trigger you that you should go to a good Doctor and check what’s wrong happened in your body.

Some of the lymphoma patients did not noticed any swelling or other signs and symptoms of this type of cancer, but still they caught by the disease. So if you found any lymph node at some unusual part of your bodies like abdomen, shoulders, etc then go and get checked by your Doctor.

Lymphoma Symptoms are not that casual to avoid, if you found any of them then take them seriously and consult your doctor and make necessary tests like biopsy, blood tests, x-rays, etc to confirm your situation.
